EOTY UPDATE: Q&A
HELLO & HAPPY HOLIDAYS from me,
This sort of end of the year Q&A that is more for me to kinda understand what point I'm at in my game development journey, while also could give YOU the player of my games, a better understanding of me and what to expect from me in a few years from now.
At this time, I am currently in college, working towards an Art & Design degree while at the moment I am on the path towards finishing up by the end of next year (2025) and turn to game development full time, while having my previous job as a safety net (aka money) while this degree is more complicated, which I'll get to later in the Q&A.
Remember these questions aren't from anyone in particular just theoretical questions that need answering for my own sake.
Q: Are you going to finish August: She Watches ?
A: No, but more in the sense that this game did not begin a demo, yet a full release, I get it's free but I hate this game, I feel like the design was better on paper than in practice. The game was meant be feel fast paced, but is a little too easy, and just like the original, the player doesn't really have a incentive to look behind them. The only reason why you would is for that "scare factor" while I feel like visually this game is nice, really just trying to learn were I went wrong with this. Clearly it shows as nothing really sticks out to get players to want to download. However I'm keeping it up as a demo if anyone still wants to try it.
Q: How come you never have dev-logs or post on twitter about game progress or exposing your games?
A: As a small game developer, I feel like a common fear of mine is being too small that if anyone saw my cool gameplay idea, they could easily steal it and make something of their own, that might just get more attention all because they have a bigger following than me, I'm not apposed if anything I'm wanting to so badly just I feel like I need to create something first that could have enough traction that I feel comfortable making dev-logs or posting my ideas on twitter.
Q: What do you think of the indie world right now?
A: To keep it short, I feel like indie gaming is going to be the future of gaming, we still keep seeing large hits coming out from just a few devs or maybe just one. Each of them PUSHING the limits of what could be done, unlike the safe and capitalized triple A gaming industry which just unloads its ass onto the world which garbage content. It's great to see that the indie world has been in the main stream with itchio being a great platform for people to share their ideas. I also feel like that the PS1 aesthetic is starting to really run its course for at least me , I am guilty when it comes to making a PS1 styled game, just feel like it's over done.
Q: Are you planning anything new?
A: YES! In fact I want to make my first steam game. Posting it costs a lot, so I really want to make something someone could buy, but don't worry was I won't charge high, I care too much about the craft to do something like that. Honestly, let me cook and you'll see what comes out.
Bye and have a great day,
